The Allen Street Spring Cask Tap!

Time: 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM
Where: Allen Street Pub - 332 Allen Street, Albany, NY
Cost: FREE ADMISSION

The Allen Street Pub will be rolling out the barrels and serving-up a full weekend of the world's best cask-conditioned ale at their Spring Cask Tap! They'll be offering a line-up of 9+ cask-conditioned ales-the most ever available in the Capital Region at one time.

The event starts at 4pm on Friday, March 27th and continues through Sunday night, March, 29th, at their 332 Allen Street location (corner of Allen Street and New Scotland Avenue, across from St. Peter's Hospital) in Albany.

What is cask-conditioned ale?

Simply put, cask-conditioned, or cask ale, is beer that has been naturally carbonated in low volume (5 to 10 gallon) barrels. The unfiltered, unpressurized beer contains live yeast which creates a gentle, natural carbonation and allows malt and hop flavors to fully develop. This results in a richer tasting glass of beer with more character and nuance than standard kegged beer.

Paul Engel, owner of the Allen Street Pub, is passionate about cask ale. He says, "We try to make cask ale as 'normal' as regular draught beer by offering three different varieties every day of the week. We love the tradition, and we're the only place in the Capital Region that is regularly offering a variety of cask ales." He continues, "Our Cask Tap events are a great way to show off some of the best cask ale from all over the world-even from our own backyard!"

Among the cask ales at the Spring Cask Tap will be Dark Star Original Old Ale, Hobson's Postman's Knock Dark Ale (both from the U.K), and Cuveé Alex Le Rouge, a Jurassian Imperial Stout from Brassie de Franches-Montagnes of Switzerland-all previously unavailable in the Capital Region. Also to be tapped are New York-brewed cask ale favorites from Green Wolf Brewing Company, Argyle Brewing Company, Community Beer Works, and Wolf Hollow Brewing Company. Wandering Star Brewing Company of Pittsfield, Massachusetts will be filling a special oak cask for the event, as well.

For more information, or questions about the Allen Street Spring Cask Tap, please contact Paul Engle at (518) 391-9258.

The Allen Street Pub is located at 332 Allen Street in Albany, and open noon to 2 am, seven days a week. Must be 21 or older to attend.
